Either way, it's a good time to consider how the role of consumerism, particularly in local marketplaces, shapes California culture. This event, hosted by Take Two's Alex Cohen, will take a look at Californian consumerism and in particular, how it influences social consciousness.
Zachary Tate Porter: Cuts and Fills: Constructing a Discourse on Ground | November 11, recommended by Nicholas Korody

Porter has spent the last year mulling over this question. On Friday, he'll discuss his research into the ideologies underlying seemingly simple design choices, as well as the undulating topology of his own research process.
Eero Saarinen | The Architect Who Saw the Future | November 11, recommended by Alexander Walter
Visiting all of Eero Saarinen's iconic modernist masterpieces is a laborious undertaking, so kick back and relax at the A+D's special two-day film screening of Eero Saarinen | The Architect Who Saw the Future. Produced and directed by Peter Rosen, the 2016 documentary follows Saarinen's son Eric (also the director of photography) in the trails of his father. The screening also features a reception and Q&A with Eric Saarinen.
