The undergraduate major at Yale is made up of 28 students, just 12 of whom are male. The Yale School of Architecture, with over 200 graduate students, is 42 percent female [...]
But despite the near gender parity in the classroom, discrepancies persist in the professional field, with very few women serving as partners or leaders of firms. According to a 2012 American Institute of Architects survey of 2,805 member firms, only 17 percent of firm partners and principals are women.

Confrontation and Social consequence = change
jla-x,
There are definitely people out there who use political correctness as a tool to suppress the expression of ideas or criticisms or as leverage in debates. I'm very critical of the expanding application of "safe space" theories on college campuses or in public debates, for example. But I also know. as an introvert, that more "sharing" of views doesn't necessarily mean that a dialog is more open. Some people tend to get quieter when others are dominating a tense discussion. That leads to a lopsided dialog, not an open dialog.
Workplaces are fundamentally different than places like this comment section. If you offend me, or if you're trolling me on Archinect, I can just close the window and get back to work. If the person sitting next to me is trolling me, I can't escape. So yea, I would prefer that people mask their hateful views or anti-social tendencies while at work for the sake creating better work environments.
True, I'm an introvert as well so I see your point. The loud mouths usually dominate the conversation...Example - Trump
"1. They have made open racists and sexists into closet racists and sexists striping away the ability of minorities and women to be vigilant."
jla-x, no offense, since we're in A.B. period, but honestly, the first part of the above, is completely off; racists and sexists are EMBOLDENED by Drumpf, and don't fear a thing, and while I am thankful for the stupid, it doesn't make people feel safer, it only makes me feel like I need to go to BJJ 10 times a week.
i for one truly appreciate the mansplaining. i would have no idea what it's like to be a woman or minority in an office environment if we didn't have white men with the compassion and understanding to explain it to me.
