As our planet grows warmer over our lifetimes, the number of cities that will be cool enough to reasonably host the summer games is going to rapidly dwindle. And that doesn’t just mean Atlanta or L.A. According to an analysis published in The Lancet last week...only three plausible host cities in the entire continent of North America may still be low risk by 2085 (or the summer games of 2088): San Francisco, Calgary, and Vancouver. — FastCo.Design
There may be zero in Africa or Latin America, and only two in Asia (Bishkek, in Kyrgyzstan, and Ulaanbaatar, in Mongolia).
As the article notes, the really disturbing implication of this research is less about athletics and more about day-to-day work. Half the world's population works outside, and temperatures that are too high for a marathon will be too high for laboring.

My Continental breakdown is as below, taken from the full medals table on Google (tinyurl.com/jfgfnmt)
The calculations and the knowledge of the continents are my own as verified with some little extra help from GoogleEarth etc.
It’s interesting that although Asia had 8 less Gold medals, it seems that the US marginally beat it by 1/5 of a percent in the overall No. of medals
However, the 5 rings are a red herring and it is the continent of Eurasia who is to beat. The other 3, the rest of the worlds, combined are almost halfway there.
What will not be helping is the exclusion of natives and other outcasts from the western civilisation’s games. In a manner of speaking, culturally, it is the Eurasian ring that is beating itself.
Watching this space!
