The Boston Architectural College has been engaged in architectural education since 1889. We educate students to become citizen architects who change and sustain the city. Our campus is located in the distinctive collegiate environment of Boston. Dynamic courses are led by experienced faculty – many of whom are knowledgeable practitioners.

Integrating practice with academic study is a core value of the Boston Architectural College's approach to design learning. Our longstanding partnerships with design firms have helped students offset tuition costs and shaped their careers. The Practice Department helps synthesize design education and applied learning through curricular coursework, community engagement, rigorous evaluation of concurrent student employment, and professional development. Through the experience of practice, students work collaboratively to engage and transform communities. Our hands-on, concurrent approach enables students access to the licensure exam prior to graduation with eligibility to become licensed architects upon graduation, giving BAC students a head start in a competitive marketplace while simultaneously jumpstarting their design careers. The success of this distinct learning model is evidenced by the trend that an average of 97 percent of Master of Architecture graduates class are employed in the field on the day they graduate.

In the classroom, our academic curriculum prepares students for the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE). A building technology course such as Structural Systems integrates sustainable design strategies and construction phasing; these revisions prefigure the changes to the Internship Development Program (IDP) and the revised registration exams (ARE 5.0). Our dynamic Professional Practice course will move from a single three credit course in our eighth semester, to a set of three one credit courses in semesters four, five, and seven; each preceding and anticipating the requirements of a specific exam. One-day weekend workshops will also be offered as additional study sessions for each exam, available to both enrolled students and Boston Architectural College alumni.
