After 21 years away, the NFL is coming back to Los Angeles. The winner after months of waiting and a busy day of voting and discussion among the NFL team owners in Houston was St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke [...]. The exciting twist is that the San Diego Chargers have the option to join the Rams in their huge, shiny stadium—which is poised to be the NFL's biggest and most expensive venue, with a price tag well over $2 billion. (It'd be the priciest sports venue in the nation's history, too.) — la.curbed.com

Had a great discussion in class about this project and topic today. Thanks, Rams!
I have to wonder now that a team is actually moving to LA, how is the NFL going to extort cities currently with teams of money with the threat to move the team to LA no longer a a card they can play. I used to LOVE stadiums and sports venue design, it's a fun and interesting typology, but the politics has put me off so much so, that any talk of stadiums being built just makes me sick to my stomach...
So they're going to spend $2 billion on a new stadium in which to play a game that gives people brain damage?

'Murica!
I have to say it's disappointing that this design doesn't even remotely resemble genitals.
its an NFL campus Miles, a campus.
A brian damage training center?
Has to be the biggest waste of financial resources of the 21st century. This will benefit no one but the NFL.
Powerball jackpot was 1.5 billion. At least whoever wins may use the money for something that will actually benefit society.
The concussion bubble is going to burst soon and the non profit non taxpaying NFL is going to get hit hard. Why cities continue to be the saps for the team owners is beyond me. The next time a team wants to relocate to your city demand a championship within an unrealistic time frame and if the team doesn't win then they must pay a "we suck" penalty that gives back to the community.
^ Not at all, NFL revenue is growing and that's the only thing that matters
^st Louis and,san Diego franchises probably have doubled in value in the last week just by moving.
Besides the freeway traffic nightmare caused by the Inglewood stadium being so close by the airport, the new (reflective) stadium design may also jam the airport's radar, the FAA says.
