The Master of Architecture, distance program is the first, primarily online program in the nation to be accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB). It is available at the Boston Architectural College to U.S. citizens anywhere in the world. Led by the BAC’s faculty of practicing architects, engineers, and historians, the program is ideal for hands-on learners who seek real-world design practice in interactive studios. This selective program is designed for students who have an undergraduate degree in design as well as practitioners in the field who seek to elevate their design knowledge.

A distinguishing feature of the Master of Architecture, distance program at the BAC is our eight day residency in the city of Boston each semester. This meeting forges a strong community of students and faculty that enhances the depth and quality of academic exchange in the online learning experience. We use the city of Boston as a working laboratory, studying its walkability, urban morphology, building typologies, construction, and cultures. The program puts a strong emphasis on critical thinking, leadership, and ethics to help graduates spearhead change at their firms, shape their own practice, and discover their direction and passion as designers.
The M. Arch, distance program helped me to develop professionally and personally. Working full time while pursuing new academic goals allowed me to translate concepts I was learning in both the classroom and the professional world between each other, an opportunity that is often lost in traditional architectural academic programs. – Teagan Andres

The firms that employ BAC students act directly on the Boston skyline and give students a front row seat to the processes and decisions that make architecture happen. It is not uncommon for Boston Architectural College students to work on a building from the first client meeting to the final “punchlist.”
