For a serious architect who has designed public housing in Dallas and a bridge in Slovenia, it may come as a surprise that Oana Stanescu’s best-known work is a 50-foot-high volcano that Kanye West ascended onstage during his grandiose Yeezus tour...Along with Dong-Ping Wong, her partner in the West Village architectural firm Family, Ms. Stanescu is making a name for herself in design circles for her ability to merge pop culture with utilitarian design. — The New York Times

Brilliant. They will redefine Architecture. The past is dead.
She looks to me a fan of Sir Ken Adam, the past only repeats itself to think otherwise is a delusion. That isn't to say she's good at what she does, because it takes a lot of work and talent to do what she does and it's apparent she has the talent, knows how to work, and has a patron with deep pockets.
You make no sense Mr. wiggin. You must just be upset she is way better than you. Haters gotta hate and she is a genious working for geniuses. Go back to your sad life.
knoa, your first post was brilliant sarcasm. You second post was the exact opposite.
No you are correct, I miss typed, she is good at what she does, but if you do actually understand ANY profession that humans pursue, you'll know they are always standing on the shoulders of giants, no matter their percieved greatness. Their patrons be damned...
Oana used to be very active on Archinect back before any of the above posters were. She was a popular school blogger. Anyway, you could understand from her posts that she was super-curious about and engaged in the world, in addition to being very intelligent.
I'm not at all surprised by her success, as she has had the markings of a huge talent from way, way back.
Go Oana! You were always a star for us!
I'm intrigued, but this article wasn't very informative. Needs some photos at the minimum, some talk about the projects. What about her partner, was he not involved in any of this?
Anyway, good luck to them. Hope to get a better sense of what they're doing in the future.
