Students at several Central City schools soon will have a permanent place to learn about architecture, design and city planning after officials from PlayBuild, a nonprofit focused on architecture education, broke ground Tuesday on a “design playground” in New Orleans.
The 2-year-old organization, along with Palmisano Contractors, is converting a vacant lot at Thalia and Willow streets into a space for children to play and learn.

Is Brad Pitt part of the playground? Because if so I will go play there. j/k (not really).
In all seriousness, this seems like a very cool project. The notion of unstructured play is getting significant traction; here at the 100 Acres Park we have installed two Play Patches that are intended for kids to do whatever they want with the very rough, natural items that they find there, like piles of "tree cookies" cut from fallen branches that we need to clear from the park anyway. Of course some parents will worry about splinters, but getting a splinter is a great way to learn how to handle wood!
