i would have liked to see someone with an educational background in architectural design, personally. here's to hoping, though, that the diversity of mr. kimmelman's background informs his writing in a manner that is both accessible to the general public and insightful in connecting architecture to the world at large. at the very least, he can't be less formally-qualified in terms of grammar than his predecessor.

great. finally a critic who can make the bridge between architecture and things like people, culture and society and fine arts.
Orhan good point. He has always been one of my favorite art critics at the times...

i think there is much more at the stake than just getting invited to beautiful people parties.
