Driving through the suburbs of Minsk, photographer Vitus Saloshanka, a Belorusian native who moved away in 2001, was struck by the way in which familiar places had changed. “I saw something I’ve never seen in Minsk before,” he says. “Contrast, social differences.” [...] “The houses represent a new sense of self-awareness in Belorusian society as well as a search for a new cultural identity. Who are we? Where are our roots? How is this expressed in the form of architecture?” — calvertjournal.com

needs more turrets. can't be a castle without lots of turrets. i bet this guy isn't nearly as rich as he thinks. if he was really rich he wouldn't be limited 4 or 5 turrets on his mcmansion.
What he needs is an architectural education. does he even know what century it is???
The garage is clearly Renaissance..ish.
No moat?
I see that Michael Graves is practicing in Belarus now.
"who are we? what are out roots?"
apparantly after some serious self reflection the answer to that was "we are medieval dragon slayers."
that garage is what kills this - without it this house would just be somewhat eccentric and oddly-proportioned... attached garages rarely look good.
attached garages are horrible.
The garage kills this? Man, the whole thing is a joke, but what's interesting is how consistently people reach for this kind of language. Better to work with human nature than against it.
i love it. another reason to go to belarus.
some of them are fantastic in a good way, or at least good kitsch. makes me want to be nouveau-riche.
The disappointing one actually is the modernist.
.
I believe the style is called Funkinstein.
Better to work with human nature than against it.

agreed - the modernist one and the one above are the worst of the bunch.
i think this one would be the worst
maybe it's just not finished though. they're mostly all trying the same sort of things with the forms, but this person decided to add some texture through use of contrasting materials.
it's like they're showing different forms of fake stonework throughout the building. just so many bad ideas stuck together. also, needs more turrets.
