And do you live with as much of the collection as you can?
Absolutely. I never keep fewer than five bronzes in my bedroom. It’s incredible that I have these things. I have them all round my bed—my little friends. I have very little money in the bank. I’m a hyper-materialist; enjoy it while you can. So many of my friends collect money in the way I collect art, but I don’t see the point.

I never understood the popularity of Peter Marino.
I hope he graduates from the leather s&m fetish someday....
I didn't realize he was such an established architect, doing work back, since the 70s for Warhol... thought he was younger, for some reason.
Maybe because the leather and his Joie de Vivre?
This was so much fun to read.
I used to not like Peter, but now I really appreciate what he's doing.
Enjoyed that. It's nice that an architect without an agenda can make nice stuff and enjoy life.
I love this guy. The whole leather think is kind of a great joke/commentary on the starchitecture idea. Making "branding" obvious and garish, he's merely using the media for what it does best.
I have a friend whose apartment is designed by him. Good work!
The Chanel building was Ginza is cool. Personal branding as PR is only a recent invention--nobody really cared what Mies or Frank Lloyd Wright looked like until recently. As the interview shows, the persona clearly gets in the way more than it helps.
