Fresh off last year's Pritzker success, Peter Zumthor has been invited to design the 2011 Serpentine Pavilion in Hyde Park. Sounds like there was a bit of a rush to get this done before Zumthor finishes the 'secular retreat' for Alain de Botton's architectural compound.
Fresh off last year's Pritzker success, Peter Zumthor has been invited to design the 2011 Serpentine Pavilion in Hyde Park. Sounds like there was a bit of a rush to get this done before Zumthor finishes the 'secular retreat' for Alain de Botton's architectural compound.
Arup will most likely be providing structural consultation.
"...It is understood Zumthor has been in the frame for the pavilion for some time and initial proposals resemble ‘a big concrete block with a garden in it’ – though the design is expected to evolve over the coming months..."
