The North Hall and Nursing Simulation Lab is a new science undergraduate building on this historic California Mission and Spanish Revival-style campus. Organized around an elevated rooftop courtyard, the north wing contains interdisciplinary damp labs that can interchangeably accommodate geology, earth sciences, archaeology and anthropology, supporting growth in any one discipline, or emergent disciplines. Its upper floor, containing psychology classrooms, is provided with similar infrastructure to enable their future conversion to damp laboratories. The south wing contains interdisciplinary dry labs supporting physics and computer sciences. Other program elements include group study rooms, faculty-student tutorial areas, and drop-in student workstations opening onto a demonstration garden. It exceeds California energy code requirements by using chilled beams, LED lighting, and natural ventilation, and is targeting LEED Platinum.
