The slope house is a small single family structure designed with-in the Park Slope Historic District of Brooklyn. In addition to the district it must respect the adjacent Babbott Mansion. The new house is designed as a garden structure and rest at the back corner of it's lot. The volume of the house is conceived by of a series of slices, each removing a portion of the original volumetric block and providing light, air, and views to itself and the adjacent mansion. The project is then rapped in a wood armature to encourage plant grown. A green roof and geothermal wells have been incorporated as well. The major argument for this project is that it is not a structure of the street. Rather it dwells with-in the garden and therefore will not jeopardize the historic nature of the district.
