As one of MASSLAB's main focuses on answering the call for sustainable and affordable living, Plot V addresses the housing crisis by promoting social cohesion with a multifamily building for accessible rental housing. Within the urbanization of Quinta da Bela, the project is in Vila Nova de Gaia.
In response to the growing demand for lower-priced housing, Plot V aims to provide affordable options, widening access to suitable living conditions for families struggling to find homes. Effective management of construction costs is crucial for this kind of project, aiming to maximize the building's usable area while maintaining high quality. The design incorporates cost-efficient principles without compromising comfort or aesthetics, using prefabricated elements and passive strategies to reduce costs and be environmentally conscious.
The project also emphasizes integrating the new building into the existing urban fabric, serving as an aggregating element that enhances public spaces and contributes positively to the surrounding environment. The building will feature communal spaces, bicycle parking, and landscaped areas to promote social interaction and community well-being. Eco-friendly features such as rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and energy-efficient design solutions will be incorporated to minimize environmental impact.
By envisioning high-quality, affordable housing, Plot V aims to create a sense of centrality and enhance the area's urban landscape, seeking to contribute to the social and environmental well-being of the community.
