The Appleton represents a remarkable mixed-income community located in NW Washington, DC, combining the restoration and transformation of a historic building into 88 independent senior units for those earning less than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The extensive renovation involved a comprehensive overhaul, including window replacements, exterior brick repointing, interior gutting for the creation of new units, office and amenity spaces, and the addition of a rooftop amenity area. Notably, the project was meticulously designed to adhere to LEED Gold standards, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
At its core, the Appleton embodies historical renovation, breathing new life into a cherished historic structure while creating an inclusive, supportive environment for senior living. By providing affordable housing options, it ensures that a diverse range of seniors can enjoy the benefits of this vibrant community. Moreover, the project's sustainable design aligns with broader environmental goals, fostering a more eco-conscious and energy-efficient living space. In essence, The Appleton is a testament to the power of revitalization, inclusivity, sustainability, and affordable senior housing, reflecting the best in community-focused development.
