375 M Street Multifamily Apartment

375 M Street Southeast, positioned as a cornerstone in Washington, D.C.'s South PUD, is the culmination of an extensive urban regeneration initiative. In my role as the project architect, I've played a pivotal part in introducing innovative design elements to this transformative mixed-use development, which seamlessly integrates 308 apartments and 40,570 square feet of commercial space, marking the final phase of an ambitious urban revitalization effort.

At its core, 375 M Street is dedicated to inclusivity, sustainability, and progressive urban design. Under my leadership, we have implemented an adaptive unit layout, ensuring flexible and inclusive residential spaces that cater to a diverse array of needs. My efforts have also resulted in a mixture floor plan design that harmoniously combines affordable and market-rate units, fostering socio-economic diversity and a strong sense of community. Our commitment to designating eight percent of units as affordable housing, including two three-bedroom units, demonstrates our dedication to a diverse and inclusive community, actively combating economic segregation and social challenges often associated with urban revitalization and gentrification.

Additionally, our utilization of a building greywater recycling system underscores our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. With a deliberate reduction in parking spaces to promote green commuting and low-carbon lifestyles, this development is setting new standards for urban sustainability. Furthermore, 375 M Street Southeast is not just a symbol of economic revitalization but also a model for social cohesion, offering a diverse range of housing options, a reduced carbon footprint, and accessibility to public transportation. Under my contributions as the project architect, these innovations significantly contribute to a more equitable and prosperous future for the entire community.
