San Francisco, CA
Hannah Row is a new three-story, 70,700 SF building in the Clawson neighborhood of West Oakland, bridges warehouse and residential neighborhoods on 32nd Street. The overall building form references the restrained shape of a warehouse, with recesses for the residential entry and decks, while 11 work/live units surround the perimeter with direct street access to create a lively street edge. Further activating the street scape, the building entry is designed to also serve as a gallery space and ground level parking is hidden from sight behind the interior courtyard. The residents, who live in one of the 36 residential units, can enjoy the layered linear internal courtyard which is traversed by metal walkways.
