500 West 21st Street

Situated along New York City’s celebrated High Line, 500 West 21st Street is a luxury 8-story residential building that respects its context with both its scale and the refined character of its façades.

A thoughtfully-conceived model for urban living, 500 West 21st Street is set apart by its scale, contextual sensitivity, and relationship to Manhattan’s unique and thriving West Side.

The industrial character and history of the neighborhood is reflected in the layered, gridded appearance of the façades, which pays homage to the metalwork of The High Line and the steel windows of the Meatpacking District, offering a refined interpretation of the district’s warehouse aesthetic, rendered in limestone, metal and glass.

Set back from the High Line, the massing of the building steps down to the south to preserve light, openness, and glimpses of the city for the High Line visitors, while maintaining privacy for residents. The resulting second floor terrace contains a substantial green amenity for the building, which is planted with full-growth trees, continuing the park-like feel of the High Line and acting as a screen between residents and the constant flow of people in the park.

Floors two through seven of the building comprise 30 units ranging from 1,100-square-foot one-bedroom apartments to 3,800-square-foot four-bedroom apartments. Three of the second-floor apartments are garden apartments with private terraces, and all apartments facing The High Line have exterior loggias. The eighth floor features two 4,000-square-foot, three-bedroom penthouse apartments with libraries, 500-square-foot terraces, skylights and 900-square-foot loft living/dining rooms. The building’s amenities include a 1,300-square-foot gym, lounge and private training room, as well as resident and guest parking in the basement.
