During a site visit to Taipei, I was prompted to determine a location for an athletic training facility. An underused nine story parking garage that is situated adjacent to a primary elevated highway posed both a challenge and opportunity to
re-appropriate the structure. A defining characteristic of the site is an exit and on-ramp from the elevated highway at the eighth level of the garage that provided the option to bring vehicular traffic directly into the facility. Taking advantage of this, I designed the training facility to occupy the top floor of the existing structure, while demolishing a portion of the northern segment of the garage to accommodate a residential tower to be built in the second phase.
