The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an innovative Deputy Director, Occupancy Management to support real estate operations for the largest Transportation Authority in North America.   We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced individual with a passion for public service, to fill a key role that will focus on maximizing the efficiency and strategic use of the MTA’s substantial office space portfolio.  It’s an opportunity for those with a passion for planning and a talent for creating innovative efficient work environments. 

Your Mission:

  • Strategically manage the allocation and optimization of MTA’s office space, encompassing up to 4 million square feet, to support our mission and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Space Allocation Policy, ensuring our office environments adapt to evolving needs while aligning with MTA’s broader goals.
  • Leader the charge in adopting and refining data management practices, utilizing CAD/CAFM systems to maintain accurate, actionable space utilization insights.
  • Innovate with mobility solutions, hoteling, and reservation systems to enhance flexibility and satisfaction in our workplace, underpinned by data-driven analytics for continuous optimization.

Who We’re Looking For:  

  • Strategic thinkers with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Architecture, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related discipline.
  • Experienced professionals with at least 8 years in space planning, occupancy management, or a similar field, ideally within large-scale, complex environments.
  • Skilled users of CAD/CAFM and Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS), with a deep understanding of the nuances of office space planning and the ability to manage relationships with third-party vendors effectively.
  • Forward-thinkers who are well-versed in the latest real estate trends, possess strong change management capabilities, and can clearly communicate complex strategies across all organizational levels.
