Chapter is a New York-based strategic communications consultancy working with architects, landscape architects, designers, and building products.
We are currently looking for an Associate (or Senior Associate, dependent upon experience), to join our growing company. The team member would be responsible for leading and supporting accounts across the firm’s portfolio of clients. With a primary focus on working with architects, landscape architects, design brands, and products, this person will help develop and implement comprehensive communications, PR, and marketing strategies with a focus on amplifying business development goals alongside the Chapter team.
Key responsibilities:
In collaboration with co-founders, manage accounts across the company’s portfolio.
Create pitches, help implement media strategies, and identify trends for client projects. Pitch media and form relationships with key writers / editors.
Support editorial initiatives for clients: project descriptions, award submissions, leadership bios, blog posts, pitch decks, press releases
Schedule meetings with journalists.
Keep up to date with architecture, design, culture, travel media / writers / editors; review periodicals to maintain a strong knowledge of current events, trends, and comparable firms, designers, and institutions.
Identify key writers / editors / publications to consider for client projects; implement systems for tracking research, both in architecture trade publications and general media outlets.
Support implementation or strategy for client social media initiatives: write copy, identify imagery, plan posts, brainstorm compelling ideas (primarily for Instagram).
Maintain list of relevant awards, keeping up to date on important award deadlines; help draft copy and gather materials for submission.
Manage media reports and project summary documents for client projects and meetings. Work with research assistant /intern to help create and maintain clips for client projects.
Create weekly recap of important industry/related news for firm leadership.
Contribute database of writers and key publications.
Qualifications:
BA or MA in Architectural History / Design / Art / Art History / Communications, or other related field
2 - 4 years work experience, with some managerial experience preferred
Understanding of the architectural media landscape as well as general interest / design / art / culture outlets
Strong relationships with editors / freelancers journalists in related fields: architecture, art, general media
Client management experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Full-time employment: Mon - Fri, 10am - 6pm
