Heitler Houstoun Architects, an award-winning Manhattan based architecture and interiors firm, with a diverse portfolio of residential, retail and corporate interior projects is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Interior Designer with 1-3 years of professional, post graduate experience and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design.

Job Description:
The ideal candidate for this position has worked under the guidance of a talented Senior Interior Designer or design firm and is ready and able to contribute to HHA’s multi-disciplinary project teams.  The candidate must be capable of working closely with senior architectural and interior designers and Project Managers. The ideal candidate is passionate, organized and driven.

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate experience in any of the following project types:

  • Retail – Wellness, Beauty
  • Residential – Single-family + Multi-family
  • Commercial – Office, Academic
  • Hospitality – Restaurants and/or Hotel


  • Bring new ideas, materials, finishes and installations to initial concept design
  • Develop design through all phases under the direction of the Project Manager/Senior Interior Designer.
  • Contribute to ID portion of design presentations, communicate vision and integration with architecture
  • Ideate, specify and deliver a high-quality design within a variety of project budgets.

 Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:

  • Interest in a high level of client satisfaction.  Comfortable presenting and supporting ideas.
  • Ability to consistently meet project deadlines.
  • High level of organization, able to track specification requirements.
  • Knowledge of current design, product, and furniture trends and styles.
  • Knowledge of commercial grade product requirements.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and leverage consultant and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in space planning, curating color stories and furniture, fixture, finish and product specification, quoting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Photoshop, In-Design, SketchUp and 3D rendering software such as V-ray.
