Aimed towards the emerging well travelled generation, this design looks to provide an interesting approach towards creating a mixed facilities resort. The main focus of the resort is a 35m lagoon style swimming pool surrounded by modern cabanas with a unique and stylized aesthetic. These are then linked to an array of facilities such as a restaurant bar, games room and many recreational facilities.
Adjoined to the resort is a villa development providing open plan, modern tropical living. These use a combination of recycled timbers and contemporary finishes, complemented by rich insertions of vegetation to create a focalized enclosure. By careful planning and design these units could create a high quality and luxurious feel, but built on a more modest budget.
The entire development is bound together through sensitive landscaping and use of naturally occurring features such as the plethora of palm trees and bamboo. Designed to be as self-sufficient as possible in terms of use of natural resources, the scheme incorporates natural ventilation alongside a host of strategies including rainwater collection and grey water recycling, solar thermal cooling, photovoltaics and heat exchange systems.
