New York, NY
Heritage Architecture has designed an architecturally pleasing Indoor Soccer Facility and urban park at the heart of the Ironbound in Newark known as Hayes Park. This services as the central stage to this once heavy industrial neighborhood. The shift of industry and population are components in the strategy to reposition and re-vision the city with a view towards the future. This project sets out to re-center the city through the development of a central public space that serves as a central point of reference for major adjoining employment clusters as well as city residents. Creating a well-secured, yet open and inviting, environment that serves as a highly flexible site for multiple types of community events. The plaza provides a much-needed space for the urban community population’s passive and active recreational needs.
