For this full floor apartment in a classic loft building in Tribeca, the entire space was gutted and the new layout designed for a continuous flow from one side of the apartment to the other. Entered through a series of wood clad portals, the home is anchored by an open concept kitchen set in the middle of the common areas. Light pours in on three sides, with uninterrupted views broken only by floor to ceiling metal and glass panels that allow for privacy in the family room. Built in seating creates intimate spaces to bask in the sun in the living area, or cozy up to read a book in the study or bedrooms. In every room, the work of artisans shines forth in exquisite stone slab work, custom oak and walnut casework, wide plank floors and crisply trimmed walls. A sympatico collaboration with the designer balances the airy, wide open, modern lines of a loft with warm toned fabrics, wall coverings, lime plaster, and a soothing color palette to create a welcoming, human scale architecture.
