Spring 2012/ Columbia University: GSAPP SYNAPSE(I)S Studio focusing on the power grid of South Africa. The studio traveled to Johannesburg and Cape Town where I was able to examine the conditions and disparities being experienced daily based on Eskom's "Load Shedding" energy saving practices. Grasshopper Parametric design tools were used to mine South African 2010 Census Data to develop a series of sectional negatives showing the disparities in the Johannesburg power grid. The project also proposed the deployment of a hybrid solar facility in the suburb of Soweto, Johannesburg that could provide energy to those living in and out of the various informal settlements in the city.
