Located on the riverbank of the Seine in Paris, this project is about the redevelopment of the head office of Pacemar.
Conserving the existing concrete structure, the concept was to create two vertical openings in the middle of each floor to allow the natural light to reach the heart of the building. The intervention also includes a new double skin facade technically designed to meet the building’s requirements for good sound and thermal insulation.
Here, the idea was to create a low-tech ventilated double-skin facade without any vertical structure that breathes through vertical joints. Ventilation is naturally regulated through the vertical gaps between the glass panels and uses the natural wind of the river coast to cool the double skin.
In order to avoid flame propagation in the double skin, each level has been separated by a fireproof floor that also contributes to the cleaning and maintenance of the facades.
