Recent m.arch grad in salt lake (around 1,000,000 people) starting interviews. What type of salary should I talk about what I am questioned about it in an interview? I would hope to make at least 20 an hour, I feel like a Masters degree is worth that, but who knows.
TYPE of salary? are you asking for an amount? Because you know people (including me) are going to tell you to look at the salary poll. If you are asking tax wise, W2 vs. 1099, thats a different question. Employee vs. Consultant.
Not to beat a dead horse here, but MArch or BArch is worth about the same. That said, expecting $40k starting sounds reasonable just starting for a decent sized market. Utah seems to be doing better than most these days so your prospect of finding a job is probably better. That said, many firms are still working on reduced wages/hours/etc. It's a hard market to force a higher salary, especially with little to no experience.
$40k seems reasonable though that might be a bit higher than they offer. I'd say that is a good place to start if they ask you, if that area is doing ok now, I am on the East coast, so i am not familiar with how the market is doing there.
I wouldnt expect a higher salary because of your M.Arch though. That seems to be hit or miss on whether anyone really thinks it helps. Experience is what will get you higher salaries

Thanks.
you might be able to squeeze 40k - 45k, depending on firm size and your portfolio.

type is an ill chosen word. I am referring strictly to the amount. I dont have much bearing on what other grads have asked for out of school...
I started at 20/hour with a BSLA at a two person firm in the Denver area.
We're busy and now I'm wondering if I should be asking for more money even though everyone else it seems is hurting.
$25/hr is about $50k/yr
probably to high for recent grad.
