Very cool! Love your diagrams and models. Graphically it is very clean and easy to go through. You have included just the right amount of projects and images. My only criticism is: I don't care much for the large blobs on the home page. Make them smaller - and blurring them out is making them look a little messy. When I click the back button, it is annoying to scroll all the way down again and find the next project. Other than that, you're work is great. Good luck with the job search!

otherwise looks a lot like many of the better portfolios i see. which is a good thing, but i was left with suspicion the work is actually better than it looks. not sure why. just my intuition. felt like some pieces were missing.
also, i found myself automatically scroll/zooming out the page so i could see all the buttons at once. i didn't like that i only had one choice because at normal zoom the buttons to projects were so large that just one of them nearly filled the screen (ok i could see the top of button number two, but you get the idea) . simple design is appealing. but, choice feels good to me. lack of choice, not so much.
just me speaking subjectively, and non-deep analysis.
pretty heady work...good stuff, though I cant really say I understand in my short attention span what the projects were basically about.
i think it would be good to think about the progression of how the viewer interprets and understands each project and the associated process for how you created the work and why.

i also agree with the others above on your site layout. it was a little annoying scrolling through the big blurry bubbles. you have some compelling models /imagery..the blur imo doesnt work for it..
There are some overlaps in your comments. I think that what both 'jump' and 'Larchinect' points out is that the process is not clear enough. Right? I guess I should have maybe some more images supporting the narrative. That's a really good point.
About the blobs: More people found it annoying not to have an overview of the content. I will make the circles smaller, og come up with a sort of overview at the top of the page.
This is my first website, and I'm doing it to learn something about Dreamweaver and building websites, just as much as anything.
Do any of you have positive experiences with online portfolios? Do companys pay attention to this at all? Do they visit if you mention it in your application?
I've had success using my website as a first point of contact for potential employers and recieved a lot of positive feedback in that regard. I actually just started a new job three weeks ago, which I consider myself very, very fortunate to have, although it is somewhat less than ideal in some ways.
I sent my web url along with a resume attached, sometimes just the url and a brief message of intent. I would say I had nearly a dozen , out of 100 or so contacts at least write a personalized message back with compliments about my work and several with interest. Keep in mind I only contacted firms in places, geographically I was interested in working, which did not include many of the industry hot spots, ie NYC, LA, San Francisco, SoCal, or any place south of 40 degrees north latitude as I am a die hard skier and mountain sports enthusiast.
fyi, I am on an hourly basis with no benefits and no over time, but I get 'comp time.'
Its rough out there, good luck. I've been told over and over-any experience is better than no experience, which I 'm not quite convinced of so take that with a grain of salt.
I realize the blurring roll-over is a cool effect, but why put an extra step between you and viewer; internet users are very picky and it's far too easy for them to leave your site. CAPTURE them with engaging images, don't make them work to see just a thumbnail.
Other than that, the work is great. I love the simplicity.
