Looking for good printing in NY

archdeceiver

I am planning to print a portfolio and want nothing less than high quality. Where would you recommend? Opinions are preferred from those who have tried their hand at a variety of printing centers in NY and know their cards.

I've used Digital Ink and have had nice results...

I tried to find good quality printing too, there are plenty in Soho, but they wanted like $400 for 30 page high quality portfolio! I ended up printing at local Staples store, quality wasn't very good, but cost was only $55.

you could also try Soho Reprographics on Broome Street at Mulberry
Ask for Sid
They are pretty reasonably priced for the high quality printing services that they offer.

pigeon: by national reprographics I assume you mean this place?: http://www.nrinet.com/

otis151: I checked the printing services they offer at http://www.sohorepro.com/ and they only seem to print small things (check Printing --> Presses: "anything from a simple 1 color business card to a complicated 4 color brochure").

zen maker: endeavorprinting doesn't seem to allow test prints, and there's no way I'm agreeing with a 25-book minimum. I only need a few books.

I've contacted the other guys already. I need to do a test print first.

archdeceiver - don't look at their minimum, just contact them, they will give you good price for even two prints. There is crazy competition going on, so they are willing to work with you.

hey there's no difference in printing quality between printing with indesign and printing with photoshop right?

also, how long does it usually take for a book to print? a few days? a week? it better be no more than a few days because i need to do test prints first.

Crap, Endeavor seemed to have a good deal but they just told me they don't print out 8.5x11 landscape portfolios, which are a common format. Odd.

Nevermind, it's just saddle-stitching on landscape that they can't do, and a lot of places can't do that, so it's fine.

Warning: do NOT use DUGGAL for printing. They are terrible. They are expensive and fuck things up.
