applying to oma / 2 mb limit?

ds96

i tried applying to OMA for an internship with their new online application form.... but they said its a 2mb limit for file attachments, but my work samples pdf is like 5mb, so i just skipped the application and emailed directly to hr@oma, but they wrote me back and said to use the online form. what's the deal with that? how can i trim my linework-heavy pdf down to 2mb?

in acrobat pro have you done reduce file size?

if so then get into pdf optimizer settings and see if you can lower the resolution a bit to get the size down (without loosing an insane amount of quality)

one of the best way to reduce image file size:

1. open image in photoshop.
2. reduce resolution, if necessary.
3. save as jpeg.
4. optimize and adjust quality to desire file size. even setting it as 5 will preserve much of the quality.
4a. you can also try saving jpeg using save as web.
5. convert jpeg to pdf, not from photoshop. u will find the size about the same as jpeg.

The real trick is to not send it electronically at all.

Print out your portfolio... get a Polaroid camera... throw out your portfolio... unzipe your pants/take off your top... take pictures of wiener/melons... several pictures... put it in an envelope... send it fedex international... make sure you get the signature and confirmation... send it to Rem.

Wait 1-2 weeks for lawsuit, job offer or even matching Polaroids. Then use the Polaroids of Rem's junk to blackmail him into a position. But be sure to have sex with him, blackmail just isn't blackmail without a little game of hide the sausage.

i found that the best thing to do is to print to a pdf. this flattens the drawings better than flattening them in photoshop while keeping the images pretty clear. you can print to pdf for each sheet then combine in acrobat. use something like win2pdf.

I agree with bucku, don't save it as pdf but print to pdf. It will reduce the size.

theyre gonna want it in pdf format...no?

anything you can do to shrink a size @ jpg you can do to the pdf.

i really suggest manipulating it in acrobat pro and not going thru each individual piece in photoshop...i mean unless you have time to kill.

printing to a pdf is a good call, but always run reduce file size and check your settings in pdf optimizer for max results. i have gotten 150+mb files down to 1mb this way, and theyre totally fine on screen and in print (for what its needed for)

how many pages is this thing youre trying to shrink? if its more than 10 it prob wont happen. suggest you make a website or something. yikes.

select 5 best samples work, do not send all your work!

i've seen people lately have more luck sending 5 projects spread over 20 pages in a pdf than 5 projects crammed into 5 pages... even though this violates standard "work samples" rules
