I just graduated this past spring with a bachelors in environmental planning and really want to pursue a career in environmental/sustainable design. I plan to apply to an MArch program for next fall and am doing all I can to prepare myself for what lay ahead of me. I am trying to make moves, now, that will help me in the future. I am taking 3D design, drawing fundamentals, intro to engineering and intro to autoCAD. Most is to help me create a portfolio but I feel it will be beneficial regardless. I have been contemplating getting my real estate license during the winter because I feel this knowledge of real estate, land value, etc. could prove beneficial in the future... I have been thinking that maybe in the future if I want to run my own firm or even do projects for myself, I could see which plots of land are cheap or which are brownsfields or whatever, buy them using my knowledge of the real estate field, and then develop or if there are structures already on it, redevelop it so it is more sustainable and than try and sell it with my real estate license and experience... Does this sound like a legitimate career move for my future? I dont really know how the real estate market works but I thought this could be a cool idea... Any insight would be great, thanks.
