Hey guys- I'm looking for advice on those who know the field on how to start getting involved in Architecture.

I will be graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering next year, and am currently working as Sustainability Coordinator for my school.

I have always been drawn to architecture and design, and at the same time math and engineering appealed to me very much. Now I am at the point when I want to pursue architecture before I get too immersed in the engineering field (aka I don't want to be a number cruncher).

What kind of internship could expose me to hands on training?
Should I become proficient in software now? Which programs?
Schooling first or field work?
