Last night I caught Iraqi metal band Acrassicauda, live streaming on FB. They played a few songs from Gilgamesh in their apartment in addition to some Metallica covers. It was awesome, not super into metal, but those guys are amazing! After all they've been through I really wish they'd be able to get more exposure, but the music industry is a pit of despair for most performers these days.
Went to my first rock show in ages, tonight - Eagles of Death Metal and Death From Above 1979, whom I'd seen about 15 years ago. Great show but my hearing is fucked, making it hard to sleep. Ran into another (female) local architect there, who got into a fist fight with some random dude because he bumped into her a couple times. It was nuts.
Going to Sturgill Simpson this week, so stoked to see him live!
-bowling_ball: Fist fights at any show with standing room only are all too common, I don't know how many knuckleheads I've had to spike into the ground after they gotten a little to elbowy. I'm above average height too so I tend to get targeted...
Love Sturgill and Chris Stapleton. Missed a chance to see SUNN O))), this past Monday. Mainly cause, it was a work-night, was in Englewood and I am an old man...
A Moon Shaped Pool is the perfect blend of electronic + ambient + alt-rock. The soundscapes are gorgeous and Thom's voice never overpowers the music. He's perfected the art of making his voice sound like an accompanying instrument. Plus, a great studio version of True Love Waits and Ful Stop (which is fucking amazing when it kicks in at 3:11).
and I've been trying to figure out how Paxel got such a clean lyric track, I'm thinking he knows somebody, this can't be done via editing, I've tried...
What music are you listening to?
Sufjan Stevens, The BQE
The Chemical Brothers
