DW and I have been listening to some 90s dance music occasionally. I didn't know this song but it's early for some of the sounds that ramped up during the next decade.
My wife and I listen to a fair amount of hip-hop and I'm recognizing a lot of samples. I don't think I'd heard of him but he was apparently pretty influential!
I love listening to all kinds of music when I'm working on stuff that doesn't require much concentration or major decision-making (e.g., layout, sketching, noodling, formatting). For other work that's more intensive and needs focus (e.g., reading, writing, editing), song variations are too distracting-- even classical music.
I stumbled on these strange, repetitive kinds of recordings by accident. There's just enough variation to engage my addled brain and cover ambient noise, but not enough to distract me from focusing. (There's a bajillion of different ones out there; these work for me.)
Youssou is great! I've actually lately been rediscovering my love of Afropop, as I stumbled across the Soundcloud stream for the eponymous radioshow, which I used to listen to religiously in my 20s every Sunday night on local college radio station.
What music are you listening to?
Lucid Domino “Nothing Was The Same” https://youtu.be/w_fqlKaUnXc
This, but on vinyl.
a bit of Airbourne:
This masterpiece!
this.... because this thread fell so far down the list. page 3?
better than the original!
Just because I didn't know Leonard Nimoy had made music!
And did you know William Shatner makes music?
this one too.
I do now :) Thank you!
I might have shared this already but I love her mix of influences. Her music is light and often cheerful, but deep and soulful at the same time.
This is a another song of hers I like
Nice!

I’m basically doing submittal reviews 16 hours a day lately so I’m just streaming Lofi Girl from YouTube all day.
This is my favorite song to turn up to 11 as I'm crossing the finish line of a long hectic day:
Really puts me in the perfect mood to dance down to the beer fridge.
Now that I think of it I might have posted this earlier in the thread. Don't care, it deserves more listens.
That one for before the beer, this one for once the beer's open:

I'm listening to the song of GTF Psalms. Most of their songs are an encouragement, especially this pandemic.
