Sarah Palin???

I guess she must have rented some of McPains Brains to handle the "Trooper Gate: From the Anchorage Daily News....WTF?

"Attention is turning this week to the Personnel Board -- the state's official avenue for investigating ethics complaints -- after release of the Legislature's Troopergate investigation last Friday. The Legislature's investigator concluded that Palin was within her rights to fire Monegan as public safety commissioner, but abused her power and broke the ethics law in joining her husband to push for the firing of Wooten, who was once married to the governor's sister.

Palin reversed an earlier pledge and refused to cooperate with the Legislature's investigation, calling it politically biased. In an unusual twist, she filed the ethics complaint against herself before the board, saying she hoped to "clear the air" by an inquiry through proper channels. She asked the board to decide if she broke ethics laws or acted improperly in dismissing Monegan or in dealing with Wooten -- basically the same ground Branchflower covered."

she's no cloris...i bet she settles in to a nice daytime talk show, but maybe one would replace whatever follows the despicable 'fox and friends'...sort of like 'huckabee' meets 'martha stewart'...meets 'the osbournes' (since she seems to love parading her family around in the public eye.)

maybe november 4th won't be the last we see of SP or this thread, for that matter.

She was the losing factor for McCain
by her being more 'normal' and him being an elite it made him look old. Whereas a person like him with good health care etc could live much longer now, people like her or other neuters die young nowadays because of poverty, environment and poor healthcare therefor making him look old and that was the deciding factor for the majority of voters as i saw in exit polls.

lesson: pick somebody that is your peer or older less you look the fool and loose.

Interesting to learn 1/2 of whites are likely racist , the youth vote was 1/5 and Native American Indian mixed blood peeps voted 2 to 1 for the O.

personally i thought it would be a much bigger win, with McCain only winning Oklahoma Idaho and Utah, but i underestimated the rural white voters bigotry.

Anti - do you really think that anyone who didn't vote Obama did so out of bigotry? I feel sorry for your narrow view of the American populace.

I would argue the bigotry card for the Southern states. Not that I expected them to turn blue but a lot of the medium size cities that are typically blue were red. Tennessee's congress has the first Republican majority since Reconstruction I believe. And if you need any further evidence, check any of the craigslist rant and rave boards. The bigots are flaming the boards and the newspaper comment sections as well.

I think a lot of parts of the country saw past race though just not in the South.

not that it matter much but the truth on Palin's clothes comes out and its worst than previously thought:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/167581/output/print

One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family—clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband.

And perhaps the most telling:

An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

OUCH!!

this made me laugh from the above article:

The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

and that the white privilege vote was shown by the demographics of the election, also the rural never had nothing, don't know any different vote

J, I'm also originally from a state that voted red this year.

And I agree that it's a totally unfair stereotype of people who live in these areas and just as bigoted. Stereotypes like these couldn't be farther from the truth.

Stereotypes and clichés are always based on some kernel of truth -- otherwise they wouldn't exist. That said, of course they can be misused, exaggerated, and used as the basis of lies -- and often are.

j, i am a native of the South as well. I am not trying to knock it because I would chose the South over the North any day. Not all of the South is that way but a lot of it is. There are bigots and racists in my own family. I can only speak on the past elections in TN (b/c that is all I have followed) but Clarksville (predominantly military) and Knoxville have voted for Democrats in the past 3 or 4 elections. They didn't this year despite the odds. Explain that other than race. On the other hand there were several counties that were blue that hadn't been blue before. I applaud that. But racism is well alive in the South. Not to say that its not elsewhere but Southerners don't closet there stuff as well.

Simply stated, there are scores of people that would rather implode that vote for a black man as president. That battle is far from over and seems to be more prevalent (understandably so) in the South.

I am not saying all or even most of McCain's vote came from racists. What I do believe is that we can't pretend like the problem of racism is gone. What I don't want to happen in the South (especially b/c now the big hurdle of electing a black president has been overcome) is the problem is ignored like what seems to be the case in the North.

I now live in CT which is a blue, diverse liberal state. However CT is pretty segregated racially and no one seems to see this as a problem. Today on NPR they were discussing the implications of trying to integrate schools when 93% of Hartford students are black. No one is going to come out and say people in CT are racist despite the fact that many people here in CT have deep rooted stereotypes (on more than just race) because in part of the segregation. I believe this lack of understanding exists because people simply ignore the problem.

Look at some of the unbelievable people at McCain/Palin rallies, look at the several arrests made b/c people were plotting to take out Obama, look at the continued presence of the freakin KKK which in my opinion are domestic terrorists yet we TOLERATE them.

I know I am ranting here and its not because I am trying to prove you wrong and me right. What I want is for people to acknowledge the problem exists and while we are making progress we still have a ways to go. The way I do my part is by exposing myself a pretty diverse group of people with the hope that my outlook will rub off on them. We can't operate inside of a box, we have to reach out to those unlike us and hope that the greater good exists in us all.

That would be an interesting twist and the people of Alaska would most likely love it. Then the First Dude could enter snow mobile races in the lower 48 and win lots of money so he didn't have to work in the oil patch anymore.

It's likely that Ted "Tubes" Stevens will be kicked out of the Senate even if he manages to win his bid for re-election. In that case, Palin will appoint a temporary successor. Alaska state law prohibits her from appointing herself, but she could resign as governor, and have her lieutenant governor (who would become governor upon her resignation) appoint her. Then she would have to run in a special election within 90 days.

yikes yikes yikes -- they seem to have too overlapping qualities -- young, rising republican stars with histories of bizarre exorcism-type activities ... maybe we'll see them both beefing up their credentials in the next 4 years...something tells me that the religious right is no longer going to be the most vocal (except maybe for incessant shouting from the fringe) or effective faction w/in the republican party. the ones who want to work with the majority to accomplish what could be substantial progress will hopefully be the ones who take on leadership roles during the obama administration and the next congress.
