not an all black interior, but if you go to the guise website and look at the 'Hagagatan Apartment' under the 'Work' section it features an interior with a matte black painted central core piece of built-in furniture that contrasts nicely with the white, glazed oak floors. also featured in monocle

I've been fairly excited about this: http://machitani.exblog.jp/4258275/
The wood (cedar) is treated by fire to resist rotting and further burning. I find the colour and finish to be beautiful.
There was a pavilion made of reclaimed timber from a house fire but the wood appeared mostly charcoal. Does someone remember this project?
This isn't exactly cutting edge architecture, but it's a neat little mini showroom my practice recently finished for BMW... ( and it's pretty much all black, the building at least - lots of other colours in the cars & lights though )
damn...i wish I had pictures of our all black livingroom circuit 1972.
the main furniture element was (2) 2x10 weathered wood board sitting on 8X8X16 cmu blocks. The floor was carpet samples. and the main feature of the room was black elbow length rubber gloves stuffed with spun cotton. They were attached to the wall so they stuck out straight. Leaving the image of one entering the room from beyond. Oh ya and there was one bare bulb in the ceiling just for effect. I'm not going to tell you how our basement was finished....
oh...actually today looking for some fresh stuff from Brazil i came across this building @ Recife, Brasil by young Brazilians architects: Metro Arquitetura + Juliano Dubeux
Black buildings or all black rooms?
Anyone have examples or projects of a building's exterior in all black (any material) or a room finished in all black including furnishings?
I've come across some 'murdered out' cars; flat black paint, black tint, black wheels, etc. looking for examples of this in architecture!
Thanks!
Example:
My kitchen is murdered-out.
Matte Black epoxy counters, ebony cabs, black floor...it's actually really cool.
Sorry no pics
(my wife thinks I am nuts, though)
bsc's art cave is pretty monochromatic (sans art, anyway) dunno about an all black, there might be a scandinavian precedent for that...
Look at the Lyon Opera house (lobby space) by Jean Nouvel
Also look at the Lucerne Congress center by Nouvel.
