The commiserate thread for grad school, especially M.Arch. 1, has quieted down.
I'm just curious, over 5-10 years ago, when the latest graphics software was not available or as advanced, what were successful entrants to good M.Arch. 1 programs putting into their portfolios as exhibits? (I'm not inquiring of art and design related majors, since portfolio preparation is part of their curricula). However, this question is directed at those with substantially different backgrounds, such as engineering, social sciences, commerce, languages, and physical sciences. How did you prepare your portfolio? Did you take classes in the arts? Or was it based on works you put together that were avocational?

Portfolios - WHAT were people putting in them for grad school?
