This pict just appeared on the CNN website ...its a tsunami crashing into Taiwan as we speak. That thing's big.
time to buy a thesaurus.
DAAAAAMN!
you mean a dictionary, vado? isn't that just typhoon storm surge? looks like fun.
Either way I think its the first time I've looked at a wave and thought, 17th Century Chinese depictions of waves really nailed it.
looks like a water ghost from some comic book ..... crazy..... b
rfuller, like this? (though it's japanese)
Wow holz.. that painting? woodcut? looks almost exactly like the CNN photo
really cool till it displaces 1.4 million people.
woodblock painting. The Great Wave off Kanagawa, Katsushika Hokusai @ the met. and yeah, it does look really similar. as japan gets hit w/ several typhoons a year, i'm certain they're not unheard of. and of course, neither are tsunamis.
there is an important difference though... The woodcut image shows a crest of a wave, the photo show a wave that's just smashed into the coast and is all spray. It's nowhere near as dangerous.
similarly, I have Kozyndan's take on the Kanagawa wave on my wall (look closely):
Wonder which is more deadly, a tsunami of water, or of Bunny Rabbits?
depends on the rabbit...
I have to wonder if monty python will ever get old and be forgotten...
I have to wonder if Vado will ever get old and be forgotten...
old? possibly forgotten? perhaps irrelevant? never i guess that might work for both monty python and vado?
