I'm doing research for the foundation of a small art/architecture library in Byron Bay Australia. There will be about 5,000 titles to begin. I am looking for models of great small scale intl libraries and reading rooms.
Please tell me any that you know about.. could be in museums, art centers, art/arch. schools, private collections, etc. I'm interested in seeing as many examples as possible.
hm...I met up with an Architect from Australia about a month ago here in the USA from southwest of Sidney. Laurie Vier, he is an exceptional architect from the work I have seen. He had a
CD with him so I was able to preview some of this work. I do recall seeing a very comfortable home libary as part of his body of work.
You don't happen to know of him?
When he was young he spent time on this side of the Big Pond working for Malcom Wells.

Gordon Bunshaft's Yale library is awesome. One day I will go there and validate this proposition.
I have been to that Yale library and it is absolutely the most beautiful building I have ever seen-you must go!

Louis Kahn did a library in New Hampshire at a Prep School.
There is also a great Library at Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
I'm not sure who the Architect was.
Will Bruder has done a number of Branch Libraries in the Phoenix,
Arizona Metro Area. Along with the Main Library in Downtown Phoenix.
There is also the firm of Richard+Bauer in Arizona who seem to be
lining up commissions for Libraries.
Both have web sites and have been published.
