http://avant-avant.net is looking for photos for its main page random image background machine. be part of our small rotating gallery and featured in our photo section.

we are looking for people who can photograph interesting, grotesque, modern or clinical things (cute fuzzy kittens or old castle scenery lovers need not apply). photos have to be 640 x 480. keep in mind that when in rotation, a part of the picture will be hidden by the navigation but fully viewable from the gallery.

please e-mail me directly at jihef[AT]avant-avant.net with a link to you portfolio or ultra compressed images (no 1 meg e-mails please).

pictures we don't want:
pictures of people traveling in the sun, animals in the british countryside, your mom, sport cars, boring people drinking in a pub

pictures we do want:
bicycles in the rain, public transit at night, exotic fast-food, your modern flower garden, omlets, taking the plane at bucarest international, etc.

of course this is just a guide but it should give you an idea of what we like and don't. we can include from 3 to 12 photos and we are planning changing the artist every month or so. oh and avant-avant doesn't really care if you consider yourself an artist or not so send your pics anyways.

oooh, extra points for joining forbidden with accepted. the crop-out would also add to the taboo factor.

I like my subways post-colonial, if not post-imperial.

no, but i can insert a photo of 'skoda' truck into subway station. i know it can be done in photoshop. you might say, ' yow, how the hell a truck got in to subway station' and this would add a lot of interest. and people would think this picture was taken at night, in a communist subway station. is it ok?

can you crop in a picture of an omlet in your local botanical garden? if yes you're in. let me get your press release ready.

oh and rita, post-colonial subway stations? what are you, 2002's documenta?
the post-subway looks more like a parking. parkings are not transit but nice try.

How about a picture of me playing minature golf along the Iron Curtain in 1963. I had omlets in Iceland back then too, twice even, same waitress both times. Even saw a gas station in Greenland on the way home.

is avant-avant a win-win situation or not? are guys legit? if so, you are in luck, because i put the two biycles of my neighbors in the yard. if it rains next couple of mounths (we are in la), i am gonna snap a photo of it and rush it over to you. it will be real nice 'biycles in the rain' category composition. is it going to be a win-win situation for me and the neighbors?

oh jersey joe --- i've hit the jackpot!

i have an old polaroid scanned image presenting interesting, grotesque, modern bicycles (with those solid wheels - you know the ones) wet, along bucarest's public transit at night, a noodle joint's exotic fast-food billboard in the distance, behind the modern flower garden is sitting pensive cheese omlet international's (an east-side politco group)...

oh shit, its 1.5 megs. never mind...
