You are quite right there are real credits in more digital projecting ,everything will profit from software to maneage the actural and even refined building proces's and true this is a very promising branche, architecture.
I wonder though , as architects allway's warned against to mechanised an industrie --- and my oppinion this is true. At some stage the designs simply become to old fasion in all terms, at some point the beauty are replaced by something different something that is not beauty, and at that time, every window, each steel profile cut to length and numbered will contain lesser and least value in terms of architecture. Allready I find Revit crossing that line years ago.
The efford shuld be pointed a different direction but still profit how good we became projecting houses, but as the direction seem more and more engineering, then a paragime shift, a different way to percive the building structure will add an even greater vision.
BIM is fine for me, my argument also are efficiency I just claim, that the real progress shuld bring a nice new house at a third the cost ,four times stronger , and this shuld offer new design tools, a new way to manufactor and realise the single building compoment, now there don't need to be 3000 different steel profiles as a smart computer generated lattrice replaced that , with one material only things like that --- BIM as I know it support any projecting it is not an architectural direction but BIM shuld only be the servant to write out the N.C. codes, and do the logistics --- it must be artists who project houses as they simply create nicer homes than what a mashin can multiply a pattern into , 3D-H lattrice work from a compleatly differnt understanding of the build structure , only then can it replace 3000 different dteel beams with just one material that is formed to replace it all.
