Gettin a Stiffy

evilplatypus

For the engineering nerds among us...

New Super Stiff material created in lab. Just another step closer to a new world and array of materials to design with. Dont great leaps in architectural design seem to occur when materials advance as well?

i was hoping to spark a conversation on the link between advances in materials and the link to advances in Design - such as iron - the railroad- and early industrial architecture and the influence on Gropius. Concrete and Corbu - Is this occuring now such as 3d Tracing and Gehry?

It will be interesting evilplatypus to see the various methods of application, and what kind of resistance this material will be suseptable to. Rigidity/stiffness is one thing but to a cat 5 hurricane it can become very dangerous.
