Stacksofpaper, do you mind releasing the name of your firm to my email Kyle@rendall.net so I can see if it's the same firm I worked at for 2 years, stuck at $10/hr. Or at least I'll know where to go from here. Thanks!
St. Petersburg, Florida
summer internship full time (just finished 11th grade h.s.)
5 people
commercial, some municipal (schools)
$8/hr
same as Eternal, i learned a lot about the profession/corporate environment & they were nice people, so i didn't mind the relatively low pay. compared to my first, and previous job working at Target, it was a leap in many ways.
Clearwater/Dunedin, Florida
3 months (current, senior year high school)
part time/whenever they need me, usually under 12hrs/week
3 people
high-end residental, some small commercial
$10/hr
mainly cadding mc mansions and doing general office tasks, but its location & time are convenient for me and the pay is better than most of my peers. casual office environment, so again, i shall not complain.
Philarch, another guy in the architecture program at my school recently landed his first internship at an engineering firm and is getting paid $10/hr. i'm assuming it's because he's decent with autocad, as i wasn't nearly as proficient as i am now when i started the world of interning, hence the lower pay
I'm going to bed now. Something tells me I'll be having nightmares.
I know the pay isn't good...... but it looks as though I'll be taking a 75% pay cut from my current job that requires not a minute of formal education.
Wow.
Not in such a hurry to get a summer job all of a sudden. Holy shit.

"Salaries for intern architects have again increased in each region of the country, our survey indicates. Last year, intern salaries were up between 4 percent and 9 percent; this year, they have risen another 6 to 12 percent. For the survey, we define interns as recent graduates who have completed an accredited degree program in architecture and who are working toward licensure.
Here are the mean salaries, on a national basis, for the first five years following graduation and prior to licensure:
Year 1: $34,543 to $39,810
Year 2: $37,354 to $42,706
Year 3: $41,004 to $47,003
Year 4: $44,511 to $52,653
Year 5: $48,138 to $58,614
Architects with five years' experience (including the internship period) can expect an average starting salary of between $51,709 and $64,519.
For 10 years' experience, the base compensation level increases significantly to an average range of $62,608–$79,919
15 years= $72,678–$96,928
The mean high salary for licensed architects with 15 years' experience (typically aged 38–42) is $96,928, while the mean high salary for engineers with equivalent experience was reported as $112,754. But a number of top-performing firms pay higher salaries to experienced non-principal architects—some offer between $130,500 and $220,000 in base compensation of for highly talented younger professionals below the age of 45.
