I am looking through REX's presentation for the IST building at Caltech. So can anyone report that REX is as fun a place to work as these images would lead one to believe?
cj w., my acquisition was quite legal. My showing you is not.
dot, it wasn't that book, unless they changed the cover. It is just the Powerpoint preentation in book for - but damn long. I like the models a lot! Yeah, the craftsmanship is consistently not great, but consistency is good.
I am now regretting the part of the original post that revealed how I saw Rex's work. My point was simply to find out if it was as fun a place to work as it seemed, because we all know the long-hour-no-pay horror stories.
i understand your situation and it is unfortunate that we cant see the design. however, i respect your right to privacy of such things.
but i still hope you hadn't mentioned having it in the first place...
it just makes me more eager to see :) ... ya know... its a work of REX... and it makes me real curious ;)
I used to work pretty close to REX, and met a few employees. They led me to believe that it was a pretty good place to work. Fun, maybe. Their model work is pretty interesting to be sure. A former co-worker of mine decided one day to have a visit. He went in and walked around. Somebody asked if he needed any help and he told them he was just looking, kept walking around and left. He quit our office about a week later.
One of REX's principles came and talked with us at my school and I thought the work was pretty bad ass. And the guy who spoke made a very good impression on many of us. The work was good, their way of doing walk though rendering based on their models were particularly impressive and the was hilarious too.
I was hoping you would extend me the courtesy of discussing a thing or two about it yourself. Apparently we all know where to go to when we want to know something about architecture -- and perhaps what not to say.
I read archinect today, oh boy
About this lucky man who split from Rem
And though the news was rather lame...
well, I just had to laugh...
At the captions added to that photograph...
He blew his nose out in his car
He keeps Kleenex there for such a thing...
Several people also sneezed
But not a single one of them was the famous Zaha Hadiiiid...
I saw a film today, oh joy
About a guy named Frank, who designed with paper wads
A crowd of people said "oh that's so cool"
A few of them even drooled
Odds are that all of them were from
Architecture schooool...
I'd love to tur ur ur n the television on...
Woke up but stayed in bed
With the cat sleepin on my head...
Went to Starbuck's and had a cup
and lookin up, I saw that I was late.
Grabbed my cell and made the call,
No I won't be in at all
I soon got over feigning ill
and got myself a scone and a refill
I read archinect today, oh boy
Something about three thousand posts
And although most are trite and superficial
At least now its official
Vado has 3000 posts...
REX = fun?

Where are you finding these images? I thought the REX website was still under construction?
Hard copy.
Damn you Joshua, join the virtual revolution already!
it must be fun, since oana has been working there i ve only talked to her twice. once on a sunday she was going into work and excited to be doing so.
Ha ha I hope she was...
can you scan the hard copy for us to see?
or is that legal?
No. Sorry.
how'd you get the hard copy garpike?
It was through Caltech. Nothing illegal.
garpike quit architnecting and get to work on you photoshop skillz.
if it aint illegal then can we have a look at it? sounds interesting.
i think ive seen the book you speak of garpike. wolf in sheep's clothing diagram on the cover?
the models look awesome. not so much bc of their craftsmanship, but because of how informative they are.

i don't know what image you saw...but the craftmanship is very good!!

Joshua Prince-Ramus is hot in his brooding genius.
bad ass doesnt mean anything unless you are talking about cars or streetfighters.
I was talking about streetfighter ... More specifically, the Championship Edition by Capcom. What did you THINK I was talking about?
not architecture obviously.
I was hoping you would extend me the courtesy of discussing a thing or two about it yourself. Apparently we all know where to go to when we want to know something about architecture -- and perhaps what not to say.
let's get it on (ding ding)
its a real pity you can't click on the people's heads - that would really be fun
and the Prince looks like fun, here he is doing his best Village People impersonation

thanks for the tabs my namesake!
REX doesn't rock as much as this Rex:
so how come Vado gets to chat with Oana? I'm envious...
and how come Rex gets to run such a cool office?
I'm even more envious
I guess this is the envy channel ;-)
nope that's the Green Thread!
unfortunately, i havent chatted with my good friend oana since she came to the states. i guess i can't compete with the big apple. :(
what's really funny is that all the guys are wearing the exact same uniform - black pants and fitted charcoal t (see architechnophilia's posted pic)
solidred, Oana hates red, Vado doesnt wear solid red colors, so then he gets to chat w/her, life is simple
... sigh
;-)
