If yow had the opportunity to organize an architectural roundtable, who would be on your top five "wish list" for speakers/panellists.
(Let's limit the discussion to North America, and let's not forget about Canada)
Steven and I just had Garrett Finney come lecture and do a workshop at GSA. He was awesome! The lecture was great, lots of beautiful images and chock full of disparate but connected ideas, ranging from flat-pak furniture design to his desire to give the astronauts on the Space Station something to feel emotion about (he works for NASA in the habitability area of astronaut environments). Lots of talk about how design notions are/become interconnected. And very fun/funny too. Workshop with the students was about systems in the creation and disposal of every day objects and I know it gave them something new to think about.
More along the lines of traditional architecture, Will Bruder gives a great lecture and is a colorful character. As is Thom Mayne, of course.
5 people I would like to see speak at a table together:
Larry Silverstein (for sensibility)
Brad Pitt (for fund raising so you can afford the other 4 speakers)
Zaha Hadid ( for some stage drama )
Doug Aiken ( for sincerity )
Nicolai Ourossof ( NY times columnist )
Does anyone know anything about R. Scofidio? I hear Diller is a real piece of work. All of the pics of Scofidio make him look like a jolly man that would give you candy.
R. Scofidio teaches at Cooper, and I saw him explaining his work with the new ICA in Boston. He came off and a very interesting guy. Also, I can only imagine what it was like to walk through their blur building…

Ada Tolla & Gueseppi Liggano (sp.) - LOT-EK
Andrew Kotchen - workshop/apd
Syd Mead - various, sydmead.com

The AIA Board of Directors, Cameron Sinclair.
: The AIA Board is a pretty big group.
yes, I know. we can value engineer the design of my panel later.
I'm finding it hard to compile a list when my top ten are global.
but from Canada...Brian MacKay Lyons
Representing the North East...
Ricardo Scofidio
Rodolfo Machado
Monica Ponce de Leon
Jane Weinzapfel
I saw some of them speak in person, and have read about the others work. I think they would be intresting candidates.

I think the worst lecturer I've ever seen is Charles Jencks. Mark Wigley, however, was one of the best.
I 2nd MacKay-Lyons. good lecture, sincere, straightforward.
not really interested in hearing Stern...
