Today I was thinking about how my academic portfolio is what firms are looking at when I'm applying to an internship position, but what about later down the line? Does one usually still include their academic work by the time they're seeking a job as a junior level architect? In other words, at what point is the academic work phased out?
And if it is, does this mean that the internship one gets drastically affects (effects?) the type of work they can do later on? I mean... i.e. if one gets an internship where they do Costcos or Wal-Marts, will they ever be able to break free of that line of work?
development of professional portfolio vs. academic portfolio

Interesting question. What goes into a professional portfolio these days? Construction documents but in what format?
