Lyceum Competition Winners Announced

notone-co

The news report with WDRK + friends somehow made me miss the Nati' (I am currently working in Amsterdam so I am scared that I missed Cincinnati).

But, the Lyceum Competition results were announced and UC took five of the top six awards.

I would love to see other entries and discuss the competition.

Holy crap, Ryan! Congratulations. And 5 of the top 6 awards. That's pretty damn good.

This is the part where I toot the UC horn and point out that we must be OK if we do this well against other such reputable schools such as RISD, SciARC, and UIC.

And Ryan....what the hell! You are already working in Amsterdam, but with the prize money, will you ever come back!?!

For the record, I participated in Lyceum 2000: The United States Instituted of Peace, and received an honorable mention. Woo hoo.

so, do this squash all the previous threads about the abilities of UC's "cadmonkey" program?

It confuses me when people change screen names mid-thread. I guess some people don't like being so exposed. Try showing up on the front page! ;o)

not that I doubt UC's quality and capacity... but 5 out of 6 ? Did the other schools submit work?

I was jealous everyone else had a cool display name.

Forgot I needed to make a snazzy one.

As far as I know all the schools submitted.

The Lyceum is an invited competition, so I would be amazed if the schools did not submit because they would probably not be asked back for next years competition.

If you go back at the previous 5-6 years UC either has not placed or had only 1 person so um......the sun must shine on a dog's ass some day. How many of these students came from the undergrad programand how many of them are British?? I'm serious.

BTW, I am former UC.

Uh, UC had 3 out of 6 spots in 2000. Does that not count?

I know the british guy your talking about.

100% of the winners came from the Undergrad Program and are currently in the Graduate Program.

I am confused with you ass and sun analogy, please elaborate.

Also, two of the five, including myself, even came from the "Pre-Arch" group.

Maybe the secret organization that gave UC a high ranking on the DI were the jurors on the Lyceum Competition, haha.

the rise in UC winners must be directly proportional to the rise in "signature architecture" buildings on the UC campus.

I wish they would post all the entrants so we could get a good look at the others.

Wonder K, 2000 does not count, I said 5-6 years - not 7.

I made the comment about the british because there always seemed to be a small contingent of british students there for several months and they took part and did rather well in Lyceum.

I asked about the student allocation because Lyceum used to be an undergraduate only design competition however, UC was searching for a loophole while I was there in order to have a "graduate studio" for lyceum which incidentally didn't work.....

glad to see that the students did really well, am interested in seeing the other boards as well.
