This is under the 2001 California Code.
I've got a three story office building, Type II 1-Hr, Sprinklered for fire resistive substitution. I'm busting the total allowable floor area so I had the thought of separating the 3rd floor from the 1st & 2nd. Same idea as an area separation wall, just horizontal.
Anyone have any experience with this?
